Bike Rodeo

This morning was our local Cub Scout pack’s Bike Rodeo. Adam elected to skip it, but Thomas and I went and had a good time. Of course he rode his bike all over the course, while I got shanghaied into running one of the stations and so got to work with all the boys. Thomas ended up winning the award for “positive attitude,” which was a nice start in scouting for him. It was also brutally hot and humid, and after a few hours we were ready to come home and relax.

Of course, what I really did was come home and write code. Or at least set up servers. Most of today was spent deep in sysadmin land, trying to get some things moving along for a couple of the big projects.

Snuck a bit of time this afternoon for some grocery shopping, after which I made myself a big bowl of potato, sweet potato, elephant garlic, and kale soup. That’ll hold me for a few days.

Around dinnertime, Dana took the kids out for a movie. Well, she took everyone but Thomas out, who hadn’t napped and was very fussy. I ended up putting him on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and he watched back to back Toy Story and Toy Story 2, which cheered him up somewhat. Everyone else got back around bedtime, and I read some Oz and put them to bed.
