Training
Got up this morning, dealt with a few emails, then packed myself a lunch and got out the door. Most of today was taken up for me by Cub Scout leader training. Now I am, at least in theory, a fully-trained Tiger Cub leader, ready to start imparting values to six-year-olds.
It wasn’t the best organized training I’ve ever been to. Apparently this was the first time the local District had tried to use the Ivy Tech facilities, and there were continuing computer issues. The first instructor couldn’t get the DVD to reliably play; the second managed to run his laptop out of power halfway through; the third couldn’t get logged on at all. So training was mostly more experienced leaders chatting about whatever came to mind, instead of the official BSA curriculum.
The lunch break was also reduced to about 12 minutes due to the technical difficulties making the morning sessions run long.
Got back home in time to touch base with Dana, who’d been out with the kids to a karate testing. She turned around and went back out to socialize with the karate people, while I rustled up hot dogs and mac and cheese for dinner and wrote code for a few hours.
