Holiday World

My day started a bit before 5 with some coding. This carried me through a few hours until everyone was awake, at which point the main event for the day started: Adam’s birthday expedition. This year he wanted to go to Holiday World, so off we went with all the kids and a couple of friends.

As luck would have it, the day was brutally hot – heat index around 110 – and whatever else Holiday World has, it’s not long on shade. It does however have free ice water and soft drinks, which we took copious advantage of. And the kids certainly had fun riding the rides and running around and generally enjoying themselves.

My role for the day was generally designated picture-taker and camera-holder, which suits me just fine; amusement park rides are not really on my list of things to do, perhaps (with my cervical pain flaring up again) more so now than ever.

We called it a day and came home around 3:30, to birthday cake and some presents. Then I had a short break before it was time to spend 90 minutes on a phone meeting. While that was going on I popped a pizza in the oven for the kids, and then pushed on with coding for the rest of the evening.
