Smartphone

Did a little schoolwork with the kids this morning, and then as an experiment told them their last assignment was to read for 30 minutes and be able to discuss with me when I got home. This actually worked pretty well; Thomas and Kayla both chose history, Adam was in a book about Roman cuisine, and Lindsey read an Amelia Bedelia book.

Meanwhile I went out and ran a few errands, including a stop at the local Scout store and then shuttling between Sprint and Verizon to look at new phones. I’ve now somewhat reluctantly entered the smartphone era with a Droid 2.

Back home, the rest of the day went for writing code, though I was weary and had trouble focusing for much of it. I also spent a few breaks while tests were running in organizing the garage, where I’m trying to get enough space to at least work on space derby rockets.

Dinner tonight was stir-fried pork and veggies served over rice. After dinner the night wound down in good order, ending up with our usual chapter from Grampa in Oz.
