Camping
Just a quick wrapup post from the past couple of days – I was off to a Cub Scout campout with three of the kids (Adam, Thomas, and Lindsey) from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. Meanwhile Dana was off to a Girl Scout campout with Kayla on Friday night, though they joined us for a while Saturday afternoon.
The campout was not an unvarnished success. Saturday afternoon Adam managed to accidentally stick the corner of a piece of cardboard in his eye, and this provoked a run to the ER where we confirmed that yes, he’d gotten a scratch on his cornea (treatment: painkillers, antibiotics, and time). But despite that, he said he had a great time.
Thomas and Lindsey had a great time too. The former got signed up as a Tiger scout (and we had a lot of incoming Tigers sign up, so we’ll have at least two dens). The latter just ran around and played with other tagalongs and bigger boys. She also got an ouch, falling off a teeter totter and bloodying her lip, but fortunately did not require an ER visit.
Saturday night was the advancement ceremony for our pack. Adam got to help with the Bear advancement, and then he got his own Webelo badge as his den advanced. He was quite proud of himself, justifiably so, as are we.
