Thistles, Tires, and Code

We had a fairly busy weekend out here, despite my continued inability to keep this journal up to date.

On Saturday, I loaded up the backpack sprayer with Roundup and went out to walk the pastures by the house, spraying herbicide on the thistles. They’re pretty bad this year, though that may just be a reflection of the fact that I’m getting to the job later than I have in past seasons. In any case, I hope not to do this particular bit of property maintenance ever again.

Saturday afternoon, a couple of guys from Les Schwab came out with their truck and put some new tires on the RV. Unfortunately, because of the way it’s parked, they were unable to get a jack under the rear end, but at least there’s new rubber on the front now. I also spent some time detethering the RV from various phone and network lines. Next step: having it towed into Colfax so they can do the rest of the tires, and then on to the Ford dealer.

Both days were pretty full of writing code for me. I’m making good progress on the latest client project. Code is actually coming together now (and so are the billable hours).

Dana and Adam went out and caught a movie and ran some errands today. The other three stayed home to be on their worst behavior. Eventually all three fell asleep for naps and I took a nap myself. When I woke up, I roasted a chicken and served it along with rice and pineapple for dinner.
