The RV Lives
After our regular morning of feeding kids and posting web updates, we loaded the family into the car and headed out of here. Actually, we loaded into two cars – Adam came with me in the pickup truck, and everyone else went in the minivan.
Our first stop was the Ford dealer in Pullman, where our RV was finally ready to hit the road again. I had them put the new license plates on while I chatted with them about the pickup, which we left off for some minor service of its own. Then Adam and I headed out in the RV, with the rest of the family tailing us.
It was the first time in over 8 years that I’ve driven the large beast, but it came back quickly enough. Our first stop was the Safeway just down the road, where $75 put something less than half a tank of gas into the thing. From there we went over to the RV Center in Moscow, where they’re going to fix up just a few things in the “house” part to make it driveable most of the way cross-country next month.
We recombined everyone into one vehicle and headed over to Applebee’s for lunch, where we got our favorite server. We broke the news to her about our leaving town (and then left an enormous tip on our way out). On the way from there back over to Colfax, we tested out another trip purchase: an in-car DVD player. Works OK, but it loses its place at power-off, so it looks like I’ll need to do a bit of wiring.
Last stop for the day was the grocery store. After that, home to frozen dinner and lots of email.
