Scrambling
We appear to be having a de facto school vacation this month. With errands taking one adult or another out of the house at least three days this week, we’ve announced another no-school week. The kids are not heartbroken.
Today, it was Dana taking Adam and Kayla off to the dentist to have their teeth cleaned, while I stayed home with the little ones (who mostly behaved).
Meanwhile, as if trying to pack everything we owned wasn’t enough, I’m suddenly finding myself with much more to do on the work front. Both of my current clients want a batch more stuff done in the relatively short term, and there’s a fairly strong possibility of picking up more work in the near future. While this is preferable to the alternative of being a freelancer without enough work, it can be a bit challenging.
Moving prep continues, of course; today involved dealing with bank and mortgage company (just routine stuff) as well as a good deal of calling around to figure out where we were actually going o stay the night we close (because, unbeknownst to us when we scheduled us, that’s the WSU homecoming weekend and every nearby hotel is booked).
Dinners are getting more creative as we cook down the pantry; today it was sweet and sour chicken over rice. Kids are not, I’m afraid, getting into the spirit of this particular bit of moving prep.
