Low Sleep Weekend

Thomas woke up at 3AM today. I think it was a combination of full bladder and bad dreams. After I managed to get him to use the potty (well, some of it went in the potty), I got him re-dressed and snuggled down next to him in his bed to get him back to sleep. That worked until about 5AM, when he rolled over and kicked me in the back when I was in the middle of an exceptionally vivid dream myself. He went back to sleep, but I was pretty well awake so I got up and had a bath to finish waking up.

When I was reasonably conscious, I started my day off with cleaning up some miscellaneous e-mail and tasks (still haven’t found a good task list application for the Mac, by the way; the built-in “to do” functionality of iCal is pretty unimpressive). I wrote a column for MCPmag.com and then went back to working on help files.

Dana took Thomas out for the afternoon and evening, since he didn’t get to go along on the last outing. I stayed home with other kids, who alternated between well-behaved and wretched. Fortunately they were not all wretched at the same time. Kayla has developed a very poor relationship with food, and so mealtimes are back to being contentious.

Fortunately dinner wasn’t too contentious, as Kayla fell asleep for the night before it was served (and it wasn’t served late, either). Adam and I had pizza. Lindsey snarfed tuna fish and macaroni and cheese.

Dana came home a bit later with a sleepy boy, and then she and I stayed up late into the night writing help files together.
