Coding Day

I was back at my desk around 6:30 this morning, and after waking up I composed the Weekend Reader column for Web Worker Daily. Pulling together lots of short links for that publication has become one of my continuing duties. Fortunately I scan enough sources that it’s fairly easy to come up with stuff.

Our fencing contractor showed up early this morning, before any of the kids were awake. He and I strolled around our yard and made final decisions about the locations of corners and gates, and he discussed dropping off material and getting to work today. Then we both realized that the underground locator folks hadn’t shown up, so there would be no digging yet. Hopefully the fence project will get started on Monday.

Dana was out all day today – first helping clean up her new karate dojo, then doing some shopping and catching a movie. Fortunately the kids were only moderately poorly behaved, although they appear to be unable to keep their hands off the new Christmas tree. I’m starting to wonder whether we will make it to Christmas with any ornaments intact.

I spent all day coding, preparing for a big end of the weekend deadline. Looks like I’ll make it, with some time to spare.

Dinner was sloppy joes with canned pineapple, which got into all the kids with little fuss. Dana made it home some time after dinner. After all the kids were in bed – which went smoothly for a change – we had a small dip in our hot tub before slouching off to sleep ourselves.
