Working Hard

My body got me out of bed at 6:30 this morning – a sign of normalcy, although I’m still snuffly and sniffling. Lindsey got up and joined me around 7AM, though all of the other kids slept in, which is quite amazing. Still a bit of sickness going around, obviously.

We took the day off from homeschooling in honor of Presidents’ Day. I spent a while talking to Adam and Kayla about Washington and Lincoln. Not sure how much they got, but hey, in public school they’d be learning apocryphal nonsense so any actual history that stuck is gravy.

Our vet came out to visit and look over our remaining horse today, and then some potential horse adopters came to visit as well. Yes, our horse is probably on her way to a new home. She’s been here for years, but with the other horses and sheep all gone she’s mighty lonely and would benefit from a new home.

I spent a lot of hours actually working today – writing help files, sitting through an interminable conference call, cleaning up e-mail. My health may not be 100% but I’ve been away from things for long enough.

Dinner features Lunchables for the kids (a treat they’d been looking forward to in their most annoying fashion), leftovers for me, and tomato soup for Dana. After dinner I managed more forward progress on my Rails work, more help files and documentation for Adaptive, and some blog entries for tomorrow. So all in all it was a pretty busy day.
