Chilly Night
We had a cold wind come up from the east overnight. This is bad because our office/bedroom window faces east, and about 4:30 this morning I woke up to realize I was freezing. I closed the window and threw on an extra blanket, but I finally gave up and had a hot bath around 6AM to recover.
Lindsey joined me at 6:30 (she slept right through the whole thing) and the rest of the family was up by 7 (except for Adam, who has a fine capacity for sleeping in).
I answered some e-mail and went back to my current Rails application. I was still working on that when some friends showed up to visit for the day – Dana’s friend Della and her husband Mike and daughter Kaia. The gals got busy scrapbooking, the kids played, and I rigged an extra network drop for Mike so he could keep on with his schoolwork.
I came up with jambalaya for adult lunch while the kids had chicken nuggets. Then I spent my afternoon poking around in a customer database, trying to fix some issues that have cropped up over the last six months. The original plan had been for folks to take off in the afternoon, but everyone was having too much fun. So I ended up making dinner: pork chops with mushrooms, scalloped potatoes, and oven-fried broccoli for the adults, sloppy joes and corn for the kids. A good time was had by all.
