Immunizations = Wah!

Started my day with a pair of battles, first with some software, and then with my boss. That was capped off with the usual 8AM overseas conference call, so the first part of the day was pretty much no fun, all the time.

After that little exercise in corporate joy was over, I logged off the computer and got things packed to go, put the two smaller children in the minivan, and off we went. First stop was the doctor’s office, where Lindsey was scheduled for her 1-year shots. We ended up with a 90-minute wait, which, even though most of it was in the room with the toys, drove Thomas nearly out of his mind with boredom. He was good about it, but he made it clear that he thought the doctor should hurry up because he was ready to leave. And then of course it was all capped with Lindsey getting stuck four times, which she did not appreciate in the least. It was all over fairly quickly (two nurses tag-teamed her, so it only took about five seconds to get all the shots in), and I cuddled her and she eventually forgave me for the betrayal.

After that the three of us went to the grocery store and did our shopping for the week. Lindsey happily squirmed around in the shopping cart, apparently none the worse for her recent trauma, and Thomas was my “big helper” throughout the store.

Back home, the afternoon went mostly for the inevitable e-mail catchup. For dinner I made pork loin and rice, bread and butter, creamed corn, and salad. A simple meal, but at least the kids ate without too much fuss.

After dinner I fired up a new Rails app and started trying to hook up some script from within Second Life to it. This has some prospect for actually being mildly profitable if I can make it work, I think, though my initial experiments were unsuccessful.
